Q. What is NiceTurntable.com?
This site is a global database of analog-related playback equipment – record players, phono cartridges, tonearms, preamplifiers, and accessories. The emphasis of this site is to allow unlimited user reviews, comments, and photos, as well as product rating.
Q. Why a turntable website when there are already so many Facebook groups?
1. Social Media groups tend to be topical, and in the best (busiest) groups, the info tends to quickly become badly disorganized.
2. Nice Turntable aims to appeal to a wider audience: audiophiles, DJs, students, and anyone with even a moderate interest.
3. Nice Turntable aims to be more heavily visual, so we don’t want to have limits on image size & quality.
Q. What kind of content can I contribute?
You can add items for any commercial (or kit / semi-commercial) product that is related to vinyl record playback. You can also add your reviews or comments to our existing items. Items should be (or have previously been) in production, at some point in time; i.e. not prototypes.
Q. Where should new content come from?
The main information sources for new items will be: 1. Manufacturer or distributor websites (current items), or brochures (older items), and 2. User experience from ownership (current or older items). We will not republish reviews from other sources – but providing links to those reviews is OK, and quoting excerpts (with attribution) is also OK.
Q. Why can’t I see what I’ve recently added?
New content goes to an administrator for approval. At times it may take a day or two for us to approve your addition or comment. Trusted contributors will be promoted to Authors, and from that point on, no post approval will be required.
Q. Which photos can I upload?
– your own personal photos
– manufacturer’s photos
– other photos under “fair use” guidelines
*When adding a photo, please add the make and model, as well as the attribution text in the “Caption” field. (e.g. “Yamaha GT2000. Photo Credit: Stereophile.com”)
Q. Who owns the information on this site?
The information posted here at Nice Turntable (e.g. reviews, specifications) is considered to be in the public domain. It can’t be republished elsewhere, without permission from Nice Turntable. When a user contributes new content, they agree to allow site administrators to make corrections as appropriate. Other users may make correction statements, in the form of comments. This is similar to a Wiki in that the community works together to ensure the best available accuracy of information.
Q. Are there any conduct rules?
All users are expected to be respectful and considerate at all times – no exceptions. Members who violate the community spirit will be removed. Inappropriate content will be removed. If a user was rude to you, or you have concerns about any posting, please contact an administrator immediately with the details.
